CHALLENGE: The focus of work is the incorporation of origami forms into the design of garments while still maintaining the functional purpose of the garment. Although the design should be innovative and creative, the final garment must be wearable and comfortable. This presented a challenge of exact precision. Pleating in fabric is a totally different experience. The weight of the fabric, its crispness and memory are all critical considerations. Fabric requires hot iron pressing and sewing techniques to create and retain the folds.
