DESIGN NAME:
Coffee language

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Women Wear Collection

INSPIRATION:
Inspired by 30s fashion and the aromatic journey into Coffee language. Wide shoulders,Slim fitted waists and swinging skirt which are essential 1930s fashion elements have been incorporated within this collection to create modern version of 30s.Origami pleating is another inspiration for this design concept.A flowy movement when walking, reminds a nice steam, which spirals from the cup Of coffee. Also creative coffee products and recipes are another source of inspiration.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This collection consists of 4 outfits in total, 2 couture dresses and 2 practical ready to wear. All outfits designs emphasis of two colors will be used accordingly. Each outfit involves couture finishing techniques. Materials are origami pleated and hand painted Shiffon , crape, leather. What makes my design unique is used natural materials such as coffee for dyeing fabrics.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The designs for this collection should have clean lines with structural details: feminine but strong, lots of opposites, and strength in diversity. details contain structure, texture, and fabrication, tailoring and finishing. My sensibility is organic through feminine, modern, and fluid but cut for comfort.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
zig zag pattern and coffe grains pattern Origami pleating to help impart feelings and emotions of ground coffee beans. Ombre Dip Dye Technique with coffee to create the look of gradient of layered coffee. Laser cut technique inspired by art coffee.

CHALLENGE:
The focus of work is the incorporation of origami forms into the design of garments while still maintaining the functional purpose of the garment. Although the design should be innovative and creative, the final garment must be wearable and comfortable. This presented a challenge of exact precision. Pleating in fabric is a totally different experience. The weight of the fabric, its crispness and memory are all critical considerations. Fabric requires hot iron pressing and sewing techniques to create and retain the folds.
