| DESIGN NAME: C CirCle PRIMARY FUNCTION: Coffee Table INSPIRATION: The design of the C CirCle was inspired by circular forms that are intertwined. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Alternative designs can be created that can be used as a center or side table by changing the diameter and height measurements of the C CirCle coffee table. The top and bottom plates of the C CirCle can be easily transported in a box and assembled at the place of use with demounted feet. Visual and esthetic differences can be achieved by using different colors and materials for the top and bottom plates. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The C CirCle coffee table has sufficient storage capacity as well as esthetic appearance. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The wooden or melamine coated fiberboard material, which is possible to be reused and whose wastes are almost completely recyclable, was preferred in the production of the round plates for the C CirCle coffee table. Four holes on the edge of the round top plate of the C CirCle are easily fixed with the connection part by attaching the head parts of the metal feet. A round bottom plate is placed in the recess formed at the bottom of the metal feet. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions of the assembled C CirCle side table: 50 cm (diameter) x 60 cm (height). The pieces for a total of 1,835 each C CirCle side table boxes, each with a maximum weight of 4.8 kg, can be placed and transported in a 20 cubic foot container. TAGS: C CirCle, Coffee Table, Side Table, Center Table, Tripod RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Alternative designs can be created that can be used as a center or side table by changing the diameter and height measurements of the plates on the C CirCle. A significant gain has been achieved, thanks to the easy installation of the plate and feet on the C CirCle. The melamine-coated fiberboard materials used on the top and bottom plates of the C CirCle are suitable, both for mass production and for packaging and transporting easily the unassembled parts. CHALLENGE: Thanks to the assembly feature of the C CirCle, plates and legs can easily be transported in a box with the dimensions of 55 cm x 55 cm x 6 cm and can be mounted practically at the place of use. NAME: C-CirCle PROFILE: Kemal Yıldırım, the designer of the C CirCle, is presently employed as a Professor at the Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey. Prof. Yıldırım has written over 90 national and international scientific articles in the field of Furniture and Interior Space Design. He won the “Unions of Exporters Grand Prize” with the design called AngledBOX in the Office Furniture Professional Category at the “Eighth National Furniture Design Competition” organized by the Unions of Exporters of Turkey on 10 April 2015. Furthermore, he won “Second Prize” with the design called Life Bed at the “Furniture Design Competition for Saving Lives in an Earthquake” that was opened within the scope of the Fifth International Kocaeli Earthquake Symposium held on 11 June 2015. In addition, he won 5 each “A Design Awards” with the designs titled AngledSHELF, V-Bookcase, MyBATH, HexBOX and FileBOX at the 2016-2017 A Design Awards, included among the most prestigious design competitions of the world organized in Italy. |
