PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Retail Interior Design

INSPIRATION:
By inspiration on this project, we use lines and curve as key elements on this design concept due to the limited space and its special environment on the space planning. With the nature of display products designed by various artists, we would create a simple background with detail elements which could help the standing of its character of artists' designs. As such, we used white paint and wooden strip to create lines and curve effect in display cabinet, partition walls and shop front.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This project is how to make impossible into a possible outcome. The shop is a merger of two units where the shape in irregular and structural columns elsewhere in shop especially located in the middle between two units. We spent a lot in space planning how to minimise the columns and maximise the product display units. Fortunately, we did it to make use of columns location as partition splitting the display area and storage area by display cabinets.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Effective project planning is very likely helpful in this project delivery. With a tight on-site schedule for grand opening, the design team plan all deliverables in very detail to avoid any delay of milestones. Like the wood work, it takes certain time in wood veneer pattern selection, manufacturing and finish touching. This requires time for ordering, production and finishing. However, the challenge of unstable weather there, it would affect the production time and delivery schedule.

The project started in April 2016 and finished in June 2016 in Malaysia

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The design team aims to use energy saving ways to minimise the hazard to our environment. In painting work, we use less Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) paint to minimise the smell and air pollutants to the public. We also plan our paint work in non-peak time schedule to lower the affection of people and shops surrounding. In wood work, we use E0 standard hardwood on our carpenter work aiming to reduce the formaldehyde emissions to our environment. In lighting design, we use LED on our logo display and lighting system for energy saving.

This project floor area is 300 square meters nett.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Beginning the design, we require to understand the brands assisting our client in marketing promotion. We did research on products they carried and 80 percent of those brands newly introduce to local market. We work closely with their marketing team to align with their promotion plan. As such, we use a flexible way of display arrangement meaning we would not name the brand in different corners like generic arrangement. We put it as an experience of lifestyle shopping that customer will enjoy the shopping while entering the shop to get what they need for their home. 

CHALLENGE:
This project gives us challenge like the first project in Malaysia. The research in material sourcing and contractors selection is a critical consideration in how this project success. Meanwhile, we assist client marketing team in product display how to introduce their brand from first start. This take an interesting challenge balancing various parties. It is a breakthrough that we can fulfil the requirement and deliver a new detail concept to our client.
