| DESIGN NAME: Geom PRIMARY FUNCTION: Geometric Furniture and Sanitaryware Set INSPIRATION: Rubik's cube is first appeared as the magical cube which known as synthesis of intelligence puzzle which is the key of the project that I am inspired. The bathroom set is the synthesis of rubik's cube form and supported with its main colors thus applied to washbasin and its outlet covers. Those main colors are red, yellow, green, blue, orange, white and black. The effort and entertainment is a value. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Designing toilet and washbasin with geometry which has entered all areas of people daily life... Project is constructed with highly aesthetic value, formed with the help of angles and degrees, subcabinet, basin mixer and flat shaped toilet are strong, sharp and very clear bathroom set that inspired by rotated cubic form. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The sanitary set add a value and new perspective to the bathroom environment which have been the same in history. The reason of the bidet and the toilet's sitting area is straight in the front and other side is circular shaped thus the sanitary set can provide ergonomy and comfort. It might be seen to people that the bowl depth size is irregular or different however it because of the bowl is rotated. Thanks to rotated bowl, it creates illusion and makes the design fun. Customer may choose washbasin outlet cover's colors which are inspired by rubik's cube and made from ceramic as well. Thanks to color variations, the customer have oppurtunity to make last touch to the unique design. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2015 and finished in December 2015 in Zonguldak/ Turkey. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Washbasin and toilet is made from ceramic material. Plaster molding is the production technique. Subcabinet is made from black powder coated stainless steel. Basin mixer is made from chrome plated stainless steel. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Washbasin's dimensions are 450 x 450 x 125 mm Toilet's dimensions are 500 x 360 x 310 mm Subcabinet's dimensions are 515 x 515 x 500 mm Basin mixer's dimensions are 50 x 230 x 76 mm TAGS: Washbasin, toilet, angle, geometric, cube, degree, rubik, playful, modern, colorful RESEARCH ABSTRACT: While designing bathroom set, rubik's cube and its history have been researched. The angles and shape that the cube is take while playing game, mathematical angles and degrees were observed. Colors and colors codes have been applied to the design. CHALLENGE: Flat and sharp shaped ceramic products shows surface errors clearly. Therefore Geom washbasin and toilet require more careful retoching and molding process. It is hard to produce the toilet because of it's flat and sharp surfaces however it should be waited in mold in optimal duration. Three shelves of the sub-module is designed independently of the wall. Therefore, those shelves had to be connected to main rack to prevent it from sagging.
