| DESIGN NAME: Renaissance PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewelry INSPIRATION: Immigration and Kafka's masterpiece (Metamorphosis) inspired me most to come up with this design. I have studied insects, the human anatomy and Egypt art and combined these three to come up with the final design. the insect shape body represents the life before immigration, the human face represents the new life and the crown which is inspired by Egyptian art represents the bridge between these two lives. the circle of diamonds represents the exact moment of renaissance. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: this piece is a pendant and a brooch at the same time. This is one of the ten pieces of my new Jewelry collection called "Transmigration OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Object can be used as a brooch or as a pendant. this piece is a wearable sculpture and the one who wears it would be definitely the center of attention, as he/ she is carrying a unique piece of art. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Project started in February 2014 in Montreal and finished in March 2014 in Montreal. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This model designed with Matrix and Zbrush for modeling. rendering is done by Keyshot. The material is 925 sterling silver. 24K yellow gold plated, black rhodium plated and white rhodium plated. stones are 22 round synthetic diamonds size 1.5mm. 1 black diamond size 4.5mm. stone setting is prong. with sandstone, satin and shiny finishing. I also used black enamel. The original design is wax printed by Solidscape Max2. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Sterling Sliver 925. Length 42.85mm x Width 31.55mm X Height 12.35mm Weight on silver: 23.55 gr Gem stones: 22 round synthetic diamonds. size: 1.5mm. 1 round black diamond size 4.5mm Black rhodium plate, white rhodium plate, 24K yellow gold plate TAGS: Jewelry, brooch, human, insect, unique, gold, silver, pendant, symbol, diamond RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I researched about the symbols of life, death and birth, the different forms of insects, metamorphosis in insects' life and critics about the masterpiece of Kafka (Metamorphosis). I also studied forms and art pieces of Art Deco and Art neaveau styles and researched about Rene Lalique jewelry. CHALLENGE: the first obstacle in designing this piece was to make it productive. therefore I made it in 8 separate pieces which should have been exactly matched together and at the same time tried to keep the weight of the piece as light as possible.
