RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The answer to why a sense of dissociation prevails is based on a concept of space that no longer defines space as a ‘discrete (meaningful) totality. Nostalgia of a discrete totality in terms of a unique identity of a place, which could correspond to a ‘home’ that might counteract a sense of dissociation and generate a sense of place instead.
How can an Architect, regenerate Nostalgia of space, through shapes and design- The personal ones and the vanishing elements of Tehran? Such questions have been my main challenge through the process of designing ‘Avishan villa’.
CHALLENGE: In Tehran as a metropolis, The “Past tense” is on the verge of disappearance. Our Past is vanishing from our city, both as a physical nature and as content. Memories of everyday life we had are wiped away in favor of new non-contextual constructions in the city. The metropolis is repeatedly eliminating our emotional resources. These resources embody our childhood home, memories and imaginings all elements, which generate our identity and sense of place. But is that all that counts for family personal Nostalgia? How can we generate Nostalgia to compensate our dissociation senses from all our previous belongings? And ‘home (as the most important elements of an urban family identity)’? But how do we recover from this lack of identity. The answer to why a sense of dissociation prevails is based on a concept of space that no longer defines space as a ‘discrete (meaningful) totality.
