PRIMARY FUNCTION:

INSPIRATION:
The inspiration came from the Scandinavian simple lifestyle. Looking at Scandinavia designs today, we still see the simple solutions, functional thinking and the good aesthetic sense inherited by their predecessors. But in general, people can not manage to control their form of life as a simple way and it can be chaotic in their homes, in their offices because of trying to catch the life. And the neccessity of the simple life, simple products are coming from this idea.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
CornerBox was designed with a modern aesthetic, eco-friendly and functional senses. The solid geometric shape leaves an impression of a sculpture, besides, let them to have a place easily in every corner of someone’s room, kitchen, living room, offices, schools… etc. as a storage for optional uses. Every detail of these boxes are thought to create multifunctional properties such as stackability, color options of triangle cover by the nubuck leather, transportability, the possibility to have a little seat. When these boxes are “stacked”, the corner of each boxes have triangle caps which can be openable as well. It is useful to learn what is inside or it helps to continue to use the boxes. The triangle cap is covered and is attached to the main cap by the nubuck leather. With using “different color options of the leather”, boxes can have a sign for the usage and it can give a character/identity for each of boxes. The dimensions are thought according to make them easily “transportable”. And they can be usable to have a little “seat” with alittle pillow and also the main material of plywood made by birch for it’s durability.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The design is honest and simple and it is a practical production to store or to hide one’s belongings.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The first ideas was started and the first prototype completed in my international education period at Lahti University of Applied Sciences in Finland, in spring semestre 2014. And the completed situtation of the product was made in Istanbul, in August 2014.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:

The dimensions of the boxes is formed to think the small needs and to make it holdable; Width 300mm x Length 300mm x Height 300mm x Total Height with Cap 314mm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Mainly, I am focused on well-being, space-saving, long-lasting, pure looking and simple solutions as a production of storing. Looking after the people's individual demands for functionality in their spaces and as a function of storage shows that is a main need for every each of spaces for everyday usage. With that topic of the necessity, these boxes are open to create the someone’s own stories with the optional-functional uses such as hiding one’s memories/belongings, magazines/books, children’s toys, office papers… etc. In addition to the product is answering to functionality, and also with its design approach, both the ability of putting in any corner of the space owing to its sharp edges and the corner area within the product are the important facilities for the meaning of the design, and give the name of these boxes.

CHALLENGE:
The design is not complicated. The clear image of the boxes helps to make them easily understandable for usage. And also, the details let them to manufacture flowingly, fastly.
