| DESIGN NAME: New Riverview Station PRIMARY FUNCTION: Terminal bus station INSPIRATION: This is a project inspired by "The Pattern Language" by Christopher Alexander. Through Christopher Alexander, we all come from water and thus we should preserve which bring in the exists of water which include stream and river and try to preserve it. This project is taken from reality site and is located beside Sungai Gombak, Malaysia. Spirit of Christopher Alexander been applied wisely in order to reimage old Pekeliling Bus Terminal in order to speak to the environment surrounded where at the same time still able to cater to the development surrounded. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a project which bring in the environment surrounded where at the same time still meet the architecture style that able to cater to the development surrounded . 1st floor is mainly focused on the design suit for fast flow of people which comprising of waiting and drop off area , quick coffee shop and 'touch and go' ticketing machine . 2nd floor is only for bus ticketing selling counter and it is direct connect to the main departure and arrival hall. Quick snack machines are serving here to provide better convenient before departure. 3nd floor is comprising of leisure waiting area and registration counter for per hour resting hostel. The design solution for resting hostel is hopefully to break the traditional boring image of bus. The whole design solution utilizes simple lining to realize space and the furniture pieces used within it. The solution of exploring new "Pekeliling&quo OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This project inspired by "The Pattern Language" by Architect Christopher Alexander. This project's concept is riverview station . Form of river has been express through simple lining and apply throughout the building. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project is an conceptual design proposal for Dewan bandaraya Kuala Lumpur(DBKL). It started in February 2014 and end at May 2014, and was my degree final year project. This project are based on the issue arise surrounded the reality site chosen. The selected site is at existing Pekeliling Bus Station in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Main Issue highlighted is to find out the design probability and possibility for existing Pekeliling Bus Station in order to cater with the development surrounded. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Solar panel had been applied at the roof top as less tall building blocking the existing site. The others environment approach include using low emission material, intelligent lighting and use the technique of traditional louvered window to maintain interior air quality. The methodology to make people receive the building's architecture message ( appreciate the exist of river, appreciate the environment) are done not only from the building facade but through it overall master planning as well so that people in the LRT and KTM Train can appreciate it too. (the site is located near to the train station) SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Interior (shoplots) around 3000 square feets. Landscape include existing Pekeliling Bus Station, a row of temporary hawker stall and an open space car park. TAGS: Interior architecture, Terminal bus station, Interior design, Reimage RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research objectives of this project aim to re-image existing Pekeliling Bus Station in order to cater the development surround where at the same time still remain certain relationship to the environment revolved. The research data include the daily routine around existing site, kind of development and traffic flow surrounded. Site visit for one month has been done to better experience the user-friendly design that the existing site lack off. Effect of this small research are infinity as if the existing Pekeliling Bus station success to re-image, it not only bring back the business of the shoplots surrounded but also re-flourish the 'dying Medan Selera Food Court' by DBKL. Beside, the daily lifestyle surrounded existing site able to upgrade. Nowadays, due to modernism, many developers use the term of 'environment friendly' to increase their property value. It is an golden opportunity to remind public "appreciated Our Environment" through this non-profit proposal.
