DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Until The Last Drop

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Liquid Packaging

INSPIRATION:
People usually set the 4 liters bottles of dense liquids like hand-washing liquid, dish-washing liquid or motor oil on its corner, if they want to evacuate the package until the last drops. They usually use something to fix the package standing on its corner. The idea was: What if the package can stand on its corner by itself?

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
In ordinary 4 liters bottles when the liquid (e.g. hand-washing liquid) is about to finish, its last drops stick to the walls of bottle, making it hard to pour out so that the user usually doesn't bother himself to extract it out. This new liquid package has a flat surface in its lower corner, making it possible to stand awry, gathering the remaining liquid in a place. These last drops then could easily flow out via a narrow groove on the side of the bottle. This package enables users to consume what they have paid for until the last drops, sustainably and green!

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Visually it is easy for user to understand that the bottle can stand on its corner. When the liquid is about to finish, user sets the bottle on its corner for a while. Remaining liquid will then be collected in the corner of the bottle. Collected drops then can be easily evacuated by user, until the last drops. Showing this ability also will be a part of advertising campaign to educate users better while showing the added value.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
UNTIL THE LAST DROP has been designed in Jan. 2012 in Tehran, IRAN.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Dimension: 11.4*22.5*29.6 cm Neck radius : 4 cm Cap size: 2.5 cm (radius)*1.8 cm Total Volume: 4350 ml, (Liquid:4000 ml + empty volume: 350)

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
User observation has showed that most of users usually do not bother themselves to extract the last drops of hand-washing liquid out, because the liquid sticks to the walls of bottle and makes it hard to pour out. Some of users use a simple solution to pour out all last drops of the liquid; They set the package on its corner for a while, then they evacuate collected drops easily.

CHALLENGE:
The main question was: "How to make the process of hand-washing liquid consumption more green and sustainable?" The same question could apply to any other dense liquid like motor oil or even edible dense liquids when they are provided in big packages. This challenge then became narrow to finding a way to help people consuming all liquid they have paid for. Because research has showed that most of users usually do not bother themselves to extract the last drops of the liquid out, because the liquid sticks to the walls of container and makes it hard to pour out. Another challenge was how to apply a solution to the present package and its production method without put on any added costs.
