| DESIGN NAME: Urban Mix PRIMARY FUNCTION: Showroom, Retail INSPIRATION: In the showroom that should focus on casual life style, natural lines oriented style, materials and nature identified as a source of inspiration. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The fourth showroom of jump showroom complex completing the product presentation locations. The naturality of the shoes are designed to express the sub-brand of Urbanmix with graphic designs by the method of masking on the polished concrete surfaces and with wall coating having the texture of Artstone brick giving the effect of painted with lime and Afrormosia solid parquet flooring along with column cladding composed irregular successive arrangement of wood fragments separated by crashing. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Customers are effected from adaptation of space and shoes. Therefore, this adaptation encourage customers to purchase shoes. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project duration is 6 months and location is Istanbul. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Afrormasia hardwood flooring is used and made column coverings with parts that are residual of the production of parquet. Utilized the ventilators that simulate the breeze of nature such as natural materials. Shoe which is an industrial object, supported with apparent venting on the ceiling and precast looking walls. The brick texture in casual life style, disciplined with white, occasionally enable to embrace with wood. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: During the fictionalising of the space that display training shoes and reflect the life style, was researched nature and human interaction and then started to design. Physical condition of space, properties, product research, story of space were evaluated. Then selection of material fictionalised and material production methods were determined. Firstly, designs were transfered to conceptional Project and turned to be sketches. The sketches were transfered to CAD as application project. CHALLENGE: The most important challenge in this Project, the company’s operating activities during the day on the other floors. At the same time construction site shall be conducted. Construction site is noise, dust and a place where many workers are employed. The company’s work environment should be quiet. 6 months in the process, most of the time we had to work at nights. The other difficult part of the project is non-standart manufacturing techniques. NAME: JUMP/GENMAR PROFILE: Jump which distributes shoes that be its own brand, designed by international designer and manufactured in far east, to Turkey and all over the world from Turkey. It was 1980, when JUMP established in one of the longest and well known street in NEW YORK, the 5th avenue. In Turkey, there was only one television channel in which broadcasts were all black and white. In 1987, when JUMP appears in Turkish markets, pop music named as ‘soft music’. By the year of 1999 world was getting smaller while needs were increasing so JUMP seperated its departments; design, r&d ( research and development ) and marketing to three main groups; JUMP ASIA, JUMP EUROPE and JUMP US. |
