| DESIGN NAME: Renovation of existing 2 floor house in Filothei , Athens-Greece PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Apartment INSPIRATION: Geometrical forms combined with the use of light and shadow projected on them UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main public areas of the house – kitchen, dining and living – are arranged as a series of connected gathering spaces on the ground floor, shielded from the world of the street and opening onto an expansive garden. The ground floor is used for sitting, drinking and eating, making the best use of it and the fireplace. The kitchen and dining area sightlines permit visual contact with the courtyard, other parts of the interior and the surrounding landscape. Beyond the kitchen lies a large studio space, with utility room, cloakroom and bathroom. Private family quarters are located upstairs, parents and children occupying their own wings. The main bedroom is at the front of the house, overlooking the trees and green spaces of private gardens. Additional private quarters are located at the back of the house in the form of a pair of simple sleeping cells. Bathrooms are equipped with black and white Corian, beige limestone and clear glass panels.
