DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
The wedding stool.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Stool

INSPIRATION:
We have got the inspiration from the institution of marriage

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The wedding stool combines the cold and industrial metallic element with the earthy and warm element of wood. The unique feature of this design lies in the fact that the metallic part of the stool is exchangeable as it clasps and unclasps on the wooden part very easily. Due to this function the wedding stool gives a playful and humorous aspect on the ordinary stool. From our point of view the wedding stool unites wood and metal in holy matrimony, before the eyes of design! At least their marriage will last!

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The wedding stool not only unites wood and metal in holy matrimony, before the eyes of design, but it also places the user on top of the ring instead of a diamond! It is lightweight and easy to carry around- the metallic part can be used as a handle. The wedding stool is certainly not a boring everyday item as it enables the user to customize his own stool by choosing his favorite colors. The wedding stool is made of plywood and aluminum, both recyclable and sustainable materials

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project of the wedding stool started in November 2009 and finished in February 2010 in Athens. It was exhibited in SaloneSatellite 2010 in Milan, among our design items. During the days of the exhibition, people from all over the world tried it, used it, enjoyed it and expressed their liking of the wedding stool in a warm and encouraging way.

Foant Asour was born in Athens, Greece. He attended the arabic high school in Athens and received a higher diploma in industrial and product design from the Middlesex University(Athens branch).DEDE think that innovation and conceptual approach can make a difference in the industrial and product design field. They also believe that humor can generate unorthodox and stimulating thinking that contributes to progressive ideas and therefore to unconventional design items. It can also be a drastic way to approach people and inspire them to think under a different light. From the 14th to the 19th of April 2010 DEDE participated in the international fair for young designers SALONESATELLITE 2010, in Milan. In August 2010 DEDE won the RED DOT award:design concept 2010 for the “this side up” table.
