PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Book Design

INSPIRATION:
The project takes its cue from the rhythmic pulses of Morse Code, channeling the essence of digital communication through the lens of ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) and Unicode. These foundational systems, akin to the alphabets of the digital age, provide the framework for a visual symphony that transcends traditional boundaries.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Within the digital tapestry of the "ASCII Digital Design Museum," ASCII reigns supreme, morphing from a mere code into a medium of artistic expression. It serves as a conduit for intricate visual communication, where characters coalesce to form mesmerizing patterns and designs. This online sanctuary, nestled within the confines of Facebook, becomes a canvas for real-time creation and exploration, bridging the realms of art and technology.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
With each page, the collection unfolds, showcasing over 300 graphics meticulously crafted between 2010 and 2013. ASCII and Unicode, the unsung heroes of digital communication, take center stage, dancing across the HTML framework with effortless grace. The project pioneers a new era of digital artistry, advocating for sustainability by minimizing environmental impact through its online manifestation

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
Born amidst the creative energy of Berkeley, California, the project gestated over the course of three transformative years. From inception to realization, its journey culminated in self-publication in 2013, marking a milestone in the annals of digital artistry. Its archival significance was solidified with its induction into the esteemed Library of Congress on July 24, 2023: LCCN: 2022482046.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The project's genesis can be traced back to the crucible of academia, where the pursuit of an M.A. degree in Multimedia Arts at California State University East Bay ignited a spark of innovation. Through experimentation with ASCII and Unicode characters within the HTML framework of Facebook, the project blazed a trail of ingenuity, laying the groundwork for a myriad of creative endeavors spanning publishing, fashion, experimental film, and beyond.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The first edition of the book, published on August 27, 2013, serves as a tangible testament to the project's vision. Its dimensions, 6 x 0.84 x 9 inches, house 372 pages of visionary artistry, encapsulating the essence of digital exploration. With an ISBN-10 of 149227027X and an ISBN-13 of 978-1492270270, it finds its place among the ranks of Graphic Design Techniques, captivating audiences with its innovative approach.

NAME:
ASCII Digital Design Museum

PROFILE:
ASCII Digital Design Museum or ADDM, aims to be a futuristic ASCII & Unicode pattern bank on Facebook and to be built on the fundamental principles of contemporary tech, arts, and design, embracing the primary use of digital 8 & 16-bit systems for building blocks for visual communication. ADDM is the 2021 A'Design Award-winning in the Idea Design category and the 2022 American Institute of Architects for an unbuilt project. ADDM aims to be a zero-footprint patterns bank that was established on Facebook in 2010. It was the very first digital-only museum on Facebook that utilized digital walls and text fields as a canvas to make art and designs from simple 8 & 16-bit ASCII & Unicode characters to broadcast graphics in real-time interchange over www. In the museum text field walls are used for digital pattern generation in real-time over the net. Each pattern is crafted by hand with specific Unicode and ASCII characters, and no AI is being used. The museum is eco-friendly as no paper, ink, paint, or canvas is being used to generate the designs and patterns, which are made in a 100% digital capacity using basic geometrical forms. ADDM is the 2021 A'Design Award-winning in the Idea Design category and the 2022 American Institute of Architects for an unbuilt project. ADDM was founded on July 5, 2010, on Facebook by Rozita S. Fogelman from her studio in Berkeley, California. https://www.facebook.com/Museum
