| DESIGN NAME: Fluid Flow PRIMARY FUNCTION: Armchair INSPIRATION: The source of inspiration can be explained into two parts. First, a personal interest in retro design . Memphis and Pop art, redefining the approach "form should follow function", the use of neon colors and patterns that are all vibrant and exciting and bringing traditional Persian colorful glasses into the design . Secondly, having a cat as a pet. My cat always likes to rest under the armchair where I am sitting, but due to the lack of transparency in armchairs, I couldn't see her. All these factors made me motivated to design such an armchair. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Fluid Flow can evoke a sense of fluidity through transparency & curved forms while being practical, comfortable, & ergonomic. This design never masks its surroundings, rather interacts with the environment around it. In its design, an effort has been made not to fixate viewer's gaze at one point, instead keeps it dynamic. so it feels like we are facing an artistic sculpture. This armchair creates an interactive space between the customer & their pet & is suitable for any environment. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Interacting with this armchair is pleasant in two ways. First, the transparency of the armchair does not separate it from the environment but at the same time has a striking color that preserves its unique artistic personality. This color takes on different appearances when exposed to different lights, which is very appealing. It also reflects colorful shades around it , which reminds of Persian architecture. Secondly, the opportunity to interact with pets , which is the most desirable aspect for its owners. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started 2023 in Tehran and finished in 2024 Tehran. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: As seen previously in the furniture industry, materials such as polycarbonate, polymethyl methacrylate, and glass have been used. But in this design, our choice was glass to be more reminiscent of designs from the 80s and inspired by colored glasses used in Persian architecture. While this may increase the weight of this product, it enhances its aesthetic and artistic aspect. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 970mm x 750mm x 850mm TAGS: Armchair, Fluid Flow, Transparent, Memphis, Pop art, Vivid, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The Fluid Flow armchair is a unique blend of retro design and Persian architectural inspiration, featuring Persian colored glass and a fluid, non-linear form. Despite manufacturing challenges, it stands out as a functional and artistic focal point in any room. CHALLENGE: The main challenge of this design is its specialized manufacturing process. Perhaps if similar projects had not been produced before, we would have been discouraged from making it! But with the help of skilled and capable individuals, this has become possible.
