| DESIGN NAME: Journey to the Slavic Gods PRIMARY FUNCTION: Animation INSPIRATION: This animated video is inspired by the mysterious and little explored mythology of the Slavic world. In this video you can witness the mysteries that are hidden in the long past centuries but continue to arouse interest. The story of an amazing culture filled with secret knowledge, enigmatic images, and magic. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In this animated video we wanted to combine the warm atmosphere of book illustration and motion. The idea was to give a spectator a glimpse into a puppet theater, where the pictures come to life with the help of invisible hands of skilled artisans holding this fragile toy world. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The illustrations were created using Photoshop and Illustrator. Then, using After Effects, we breathed life into them to emphasize the uniqueness of each character. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 53-second video TAGS: animation, video, slavicgods, inspiration, illustration RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We wanted to remember being children and looking at books with colorful illustrations. How wonderful the world was, as we thought it was then. There was a kind of magic in it. So the idea for this project was born out of a desire to resurrect those feelings. We used softened images of ancient deities and gave them a fairy tale flavor. CHALLENGE: We wanted to show a piece of Slavic mythology, which is not as preserved as, for example, ancient Roman or ancient Greek. Very little information and documentary sources have been preserved about the Slavic gods and creatures, which at one time were an important part of people’s lives. What has come down to our time was said and mentioned in the chronicles. And this is a reminder to us that it is important to remember cultural heritage.
