| DESIGN NAME: Eternal Flower PRIMARY FUNCTION: Projection Art Installation INSPIRATION: This art installation is inspired by the Eternal Flower.Eternal flowers are flowers that never wither. They quietly break free from the cycle of time and are reborn under skillful hands. This made me realize death is not the opposite of life, but part of life that lives on forever. Three poem passages express the themes of eternal flowers, life, and death. They encourage treasuring the time we have, and also facing death with composure UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This projection art installation combines eternal flowers with image projection, presenting the theme of life and death. Its uniqueness lies in the use of a transparent and light soul like veil to display experimental images mainly composed of three poems, triggering viewers to deeply contemplate life and death. Using collage, photography, and kaleidoscope techniques to create dreamy visual effects, immersing the audience in an experience that transcends time. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The operation of this art installation is very simple. Turn on the projector, use it to project onto the the screen, and play the experimental art video. The audience approaches and visits the art installation, and as they think, the installation gently prompts the audience to face death with a calm and thoughtful attitude, ultimately enriching their experience and cognition. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The projection device is constructed using a projector, gauzy screen, and aluminum alloy frame. The screen is made of semi-transparent fabric, with a thin texture and mesh-like perforations. It features characteristics such as lightweight, a surface suitable for projecting images, the ability to carry projected images, and light transmission.When images are projected onto the screen without light shining from behind, they appear suspended in mid-air, creating an illusionary space effect. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 664cm x height 403cm x depth 50cm TAGS: Art, Video, Projection, Collage, Installation RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Design research explores the perception of life and death through art installations, aiming to convey a mild understanding that death is not the opposite of life. Qualitative methods such as interviews and observations were used to collect data on participants' reflections and capture different perspectives from individuals with different backgrounds. The results showed participants' thinking about the natural cycle of life and death. CHALLENGE: The most challenging part of this design activity is how to present a gentle understanding of the theme of life and death in an artistic form. In the attempt, a lot of materials and short films were shot, as well as a lot of artistic efforts were made. During the project development process, the main creative challenges also include how to design an art installation that can evoke emotional resonance among the audience, and how to transform abstract concepts into forms that the audience can understand and feel through visual, sound, and other elements.
