| DESIGN NAME: Weatherman PRIMARY FUNCTION: Kids Comics INSPIRATION: Atiksh is known for developing powerful characters who turn adversities into advantages and emerge as extraordinary. The comics Weatherman, is another story full of exciting adventures and high morals. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Weatherman is the tale of an ordinary boy, Sunny, a college dropout, who had to get a job to help his family. Like any typical teenager, Sunny is full of self-doubts and is further burdened by financial and social pressures. Despite the odds, Sunny keeps his head high and continues working in not-so-encouraging circumstances. He keeps his passion alive and goes on to save the city using his wits and presence of mind, ultimately emerging as an unlikely hero, the Weatherman. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The comics are available in English and Hindi and are intended for young readers of any age. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The script was first conceptualized in 2021 and finished in 2022. The illustrations for the project were started in 2022 and finished in 2023. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: A lot of time was put into the effort to identify the adequate size, paper, format, and structure of the book. For inner pages, imported art paper of 130 GSM is used. The book is 40 pages, center-pin bound, with a glossy cover of 230 GSM. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The finished size of the book is kept at 6.5 Inches by 9.5 Inches. The book is printed in multicolor. TAGS: graphic, comics, kids, environment, weather, Indian, cinematic, artistic RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The book seems simple, but it takes subtle hits on contemporary topics like social media addiction, workplace toxicity, fair weather, friendship, and middle-class problems in less than 40 pages. CHALLENGE: Atiksh, the 16-year-old writer of Weatherman, has an active interest in writing, filmmaking, and comics. Apart from several international awards and selections of the films he directed or acted in earlier, he has also won accolades in Karate, Chess, and Tae-Kwon-Do. Weatherman is set in a Nordic city where Atiksh has never gone in person, and that was one of the biggest challenges while he worked on this project.
