| DESIGN NAME: Defiant Glance PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sculpture INSPIRATION: In the essence of this composition is a mimetically arranged form of a bird, with a glance directed to the sky. I tried to equate its desire for free flight with the pure human desire for freedom of existence and expression. The main inspiration was to achieve a deepth and expansion of the ways of perception and self-perception by the audience, using a composition of smooth, mirror-polished, spatially distorted surfaces that create reflective sensations. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The abstract nature of this artwork allows for personal interpretation, as each viewer can project their own memories and emotions. The sculpture "Defiant Glance" invites the viewers to explore the interaction between the form, light and their own perception. Through its conceptual depth, this artwork encourages viewers to think about the freedom of human identity , the layers of one's personality, and the evolving nature of self-perception. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The arrangement of reflective mirror elements in the sculpture is thoughtfully designed and there is a harmonious balance between space and form. This composition allows the viewer to experience the sculpture from different angles, reinforcing the idea that the reflection of the material is not a linear progression, but a multi-layered construction. It engages the viewer on both intellectual and emotional level, encouraging introspection and a deeper exploration of one's own being. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The realization of this sculpture was in the months of August and September 2023. Then this sculpture was exhibited at my solo exhibition of stainless steel sculptures entitled "Sequences of Reflection", which was held in November 2023 at the Youth Cultural Center in Skopje FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Fine Arts and Art Installation Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The sculpture is made of stainless steel plates, which are cut, bent and joined by welding. The form is then finely sanded and polished to a high miror appearance, allowing for a lively play of light and reflection.The arrangement of reflective mirror elements in the sculpture is thoughtfully designed and each fragment captures and refracts light in a unique way, creating a dynamic and ever-changing display, as the viewer moves around the sculpture. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 14,5х12,5x39cm. TAGS: Stainless steel sculpture, reflection , light RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The creation of this sculptural work began by making several sketches from different angles in order to form the whole.The arrangement of the elements in the sculpture is thoughtfully designed, with a harmonious balance between space and form. The metal sculpture, obtained by cutting and welding, is made of stainless-steel material, which, despite the fact that it can be considered difficult to process, is in reality very fluid, plastic and pleasant for creating the work of art. CHALLENGE: The most difficult activity in the process of making this sculpture was certainly the assembly by welding, which should be very precise, without major mistakes. These mistakes can further be fatal, since it is a matter of material with a thickness of 1 mm. Also, in order to obtain a perfect product, it is very important to pay attention to correction, sanding and polishing.The challenge of obtaining such a finely crafted work of art from this hard metal is truly incredible.
