RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research for this poster design encompasses various types, including artistic, design, historical, cultural, and audience research. The objectives range from exploring Schlemmer's artistic techniques and influences to understanding his cultural significance and audience engagement. Through this research, i aim to gain insights into Schlemmer's multidisciplinary approach and its application in modern poster design while honoring his enduring legacy in the intersection of art, design, and culture. This includes the concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk, or total work of art, where he integrated various artistic elements such as dance, costume design, music, and architecture into his theatrical productions.
CHALLENGE: The concept of "form follows function" emphasizes practicality in design, while universality in art and design aims for accessibility and transcending cultural barriers. These principles were central to the ethos of the Bauhaus school, which celebrated the diverse contributions of its professors. Homage to the Bauhaus takes various forms, exploring themes such as geometry, abstraction, and human and social forms. The poster, with its abstract, geometric elements, embodies the fluid interaction between inspiration and space, reflecting the essence of Bauhaus philosophy. It serves as a platform to explore the dynamic interplay between its central inspiration and its surrounding environment, making it the focal point of its narrative.
