DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Lona

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Seating Unit

INSPIRATION:
The primary inspiration for the project was the sakura tree. A concept blossomed from pink spring branches abstracted throughout the entire space. The focal point became a planter for the sakura tree, simultaneously transforming into a seating unit. The design comes to life with an artificial sakura tree crafted from real branches.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This design represents a unique concept, offering users a seating unit alongside a planter, distinguishing it from conventional planters. Blending functionality with aesthetics, it provides a striking solution for both indoor and outdoor spaces.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
This creative exploration initially drew inspiration from Japanese culture, particularly delving into the profound symbolism of the sakura tree. This design transforms the space into a lively and energetic environment, akin to an abstracted carpet of flowers, going beyond a mere bar to offer an immersive and captivating experience.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project finished in 2022 in Izmir, Turkey.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Drawing inspiration from the pink hues of sakura blossoms, we extensively incorporated powder pink in fabrics and coverings. The use of high-quality materials and innovative manufacturing techniques contributes to the design's durability and longevity. Beyond technical details, we emphasize the rationale behind aesthetic choices, underscoring the strength of the design.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Seating Unit Height 45 mm, Diameter 200 mm, Tree Length 300 mm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
In the pursuit of enriching the ambiance of a space, my design journey centered around the concept of a sakura tree paired with seating units. Detailed analyses of the space, focusing on color choices and lighting preferences, further clarified the nuances of the design. Subsequently, surveys and observations conducted with potential users of the space played a pivotal role in showcasing the design's success in harmonizing aesthetics and comfort.

CHALLENGE:
Research into materials and technologies provided a strategic perspective on how the design could come to life in the real world. Competitor analysis and trend tracking offered essential insights supporting the design's uniqueness and contemporary relevance.
