DESIGN NAME: ENDLESS BIODESIGN
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Container
INSPIRATION: The project is inspired by the waste of bio-resources. Different bio-waste materials, magnolia leaves, eucalyptus tree bark, pine tree needles, and grape pulp properties, color, texture, and possibility to find in every location are the main ones that inspired the sustainable production of this collection.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The unique property of these bowls is their material. Bio material is transformed into pulp and every piece is handmade. The natural material brings the unique color and olfaction properties of every piece.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The availability of bio-waste is seamless in any physical environment. In this sense, it is easier to reach different materials such as leaves and bark anywhere in the world, both in the city and in the rural areas, than all other materials. At the same time, it will always have different color and textural properties in every physical-geographical environment, which adds an important value that differentiates and personalise the products.
The stages of material collection, material-making process, and design object creation applied in this project are open to being repeated in all geographies. This method creates endless use of biomaterials, and the opportunity to work with artisans for the shaping can contribute to the local economy.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2021 in Rome and continued in Bodrum. It is still in development. Materials found in different geographies enable this form of production to develop dynamically.
In the implementation of the initiative to increase the quality of production, support has been received from an artist in Turkey at the stages of material application and shaping.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Recycling of biowaste is the basic approach of the project. To achieve this, biowaste is collected and shredded to form a homogeneous paste. Then, the material is tested with different adhesives to obtain different forms. All objects are unique and handmade.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions differentiate between 10 cm to 30 cm.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project's development stages began with collecting biomaterials and experiencing the possibilities of the material. Material samples were produced with different biomaterials. The results obtained in material production provided important data on the production of various objects. As a result of this process, the products created by recycling bio-waste materials are handmade objects. The material in nature integrates with the design object without losing its original properties.
CHALLENGE: The variability of the density of the biomaterial in the form-shaping stage has an important role in the efficiency of production. Understanding the material properties, grinding the material, shaping, drying, and using the right binding material have been the challenges of this research.
