| DESIGN NAME: Aquaker PRIMARY FUNCTION: Speaker INSPIRATION: Aquaker - Harmonizing Aqua, Sound and light The name "Aquaker" derives from the combination of "aqua" and "speaker," embodying our design's core essence. Our vision was to create a speaker that not only delivers exceptional sound quality but also mesmerizes users with a captivating visual display. Aquaker achieves this by ingeniously utilizing water and its exquisite response to music, allowing users to immerse themselves in a multi-sensory audio-visual journey. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Aquaker's innovation lies in its ability to synchronize sound and water in perfect harmony. As music flows through the speaker, the water within Aquaker responds with graceful movements, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of light and liquid motion that reflects onto the surrounding environment. The fluid dance of water mirrors the rhythm and intensity of the music, deepening the emotional connection to the music being played. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Aquaker can be connected to other devices, such as a mobile phone, via Bluetooth, and it features both a USB C and a USB2 port. It can serve multiple functions, acting as a speaker, a desk lamp, or a lighting visualizer. It has the ability to transform any room into a mesmerizing audio-visual spectacle, synchronizing the lighting effects with the music being played, whether it's a calming meditation track or an energetic party remix. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It started in Tehran, Iran in February 2023 and finished in June 2023. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Aquaker consists of 3 main parts+ a light.1. speaker, 2. Subwoofer and 3. liquid container Speaker: The speaker, located at the bottom, features a robust steel body that not only enhances its durability but also contributes to its modern aesthetic. Embedded buttons and connection ports at the back offer convenience and easy access to control and connectivity options. Subwoofer with Lighting: The middle layer of Aquaker houses the powerful subwoofer that enriches the audio experience with deep, resonating bass. Within this layer, an integrated lighting system adds another dimension to the visual ambiance. The carefully designed lighting effects enhance the overall sensory immersion, bringing the music to life with a captivating glow. Liquid Container: At the top of Aquaker rests the liquid container, where the magic of water's response to sound unfolds. This transparent container allows users to witness the mesmerizing dance of water as it reacts to the music being played. The interplay of water and sound creates a captivating visual spectacle that adds an enchanting element to the audio experience. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 300millimeter diameter, 150 millimeter height Wireless portable speaker TAGS: speaker, wireless, audio, soundequipmet, aqua, houseware RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Aquaker's design narrative was born from an unexpected moment of wonder. During a friendly conversation, we discovered the enchanting effect of a smartphone flashlight beneath a glass of water, as it cast mesmerizing reflections on the ceiling. This awe-inspiring encounter sparked our imagination, leading us to conceptualize Aquaker as a device that brings together the enchantment of water and light, with the added dimension of immersive sound. CHALLENGE: Aquaker's consolidated design approach not only reduces the need for separate devices but also minimizes production waste and environmental impact. By integrating multiple functionalities into a single device, fewer resources are consumed, resulting in a smaller carbon footprint. One of the key design challenges in creating Aquaker was the liquid used in the speaker. A mixture of distilled water and alcohol was carefully selected to prevent vaporization, thereby enhancing the longevity of the liquid's captivating visual effects. Another design challenge involved achieving seamless transmission of vibrations from the subwoofer to the liquid container. To address this, a specially engineered plastic joint should develop to effectively conducts vibrations, allowing the liquid to synchronize and dance in response to the powerful bass, creating an immersive audio-visual experience. NAME: AT Design Studio PROFILE: AT Design Studio is an experiential design firm that provides interior design, product design, architectural and engineering services. The AT has been involved in many residential, commercial, cultural and industrial projects. Our office was founded by Amirhossein Tabrizi in 2009. He is a practicing architect since 2002 and he got his master’s of Restoration & Rehabilitation of Historical Monument from cultural Heritage Education Center University. In the design process, AT Design Studio tries to find the best practical solutions adaptable to the constant evolution of contemporary life. The Solutions that lead to sustainable, balanced, and enduring structures.
