INSPIRATION: Many elderly people around have knee joint problems, serious can not get out of bed, abnormal pain, there are also wheelchairs, often need artificial joint activity. Our team thought about using exercise therapy to design a medical device, which can perform rehabilitation training and relieve pain anytime and anywhere.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Exercise therapy for degenerative knee disease in the elderly can be used as a wearable device in the medical field at home.In the process of use, flexion and extension muscle strength training can effectively relieve the pain of patients, improve the range of motion of joints, and improve the ability of daily activities.The product drives the lower limbs through the motor on both sides to achieve the effect of flexion and extension muscle strength training.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: After the device is put on, the device is turned on by remote control, the duration of a treatment course is set, and then the device starts to work. In case of discomfort during the process, the movement speed can be adjusted and the device can be stopped at any time.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project will be launched in May 2021 in Beijing and is not yet on the market.

CHALLENGE: Kneeosteoarthritis (KOA) is a group of clinical syndromes with articular chondrosis becoming the main pathological feature. However, due to the poor self-repair ability of cartilage, the repair of articular cartilage defects is a difficult problem puzzling clinicians. For the treatment of KOA, there is no definitive cure. Non-steroidal drug therapy has many adverse reactions, and non-drug therapy mainly motor therapy has been highly valued. However, insufficient attention has been paid to K0A exercise therapy in China. Therefore, a device that can slow down the progression of lower limb OA by improving muscle strength and proprioception through exercise is more practical and effective to help patients.
