| DESIGN NAME: Global Vision at Cavalcade of Lights PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lighting-Art Installation INSPIRATION: This monumental light installation creates a center circle of the snowflake-shaped main square Toronto that will allow you to walk around or ride inside the carousel of reflected-coloured lights. For the first two weeks, the circle from colourful triangles supported a central stage for performances and for another month surrounded a Merry-Go-Round. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Global Vision is an artistic light installation which embodies the theme of immigration from Europe and Asia to North America. Immigration changes the way we see the world, culture, and society. Immigrants are changed by their new environment and the people they meet. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: A light installation illuminated the central stage at Nathan Phillips Square and created a center of snowflake from above. After the opening of the Christmas market framed Merry-Go-Round in the square and was the center of mass entertainment and many selfies. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: 24 triangular prisms made of a metal profile 2.5 meters high. Decorated with reflective adhesive tape and diffuser polyethylene film. All triangles joined by 12 pairs and created a big circle. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Overall dimensions of the installation, Diameter 25 meters x Height 2,5 meters. Each side of the triangular prism is 70 cm wide. TAGS: Light Installation, Outdoor Lighting Project, Art and Light, Global Vision, Immigrants RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The first showcase of the installation Global Vision was at the festival Nuit Blanche 2022 in the fall in Toronto. All research and results belong to the original idea and are available at the external link. Then the project was relocated and got a different shape and look from above, with triangles joined by pair and creating a circle of the snowflake. CHALLENGE: Global Vision was created to bring more attraction, brightness and colours to the streets of Toronto. People enjoyed and did thousand of pictures.
