| DESIGN NAME: Guest Light PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table INSPIRATION: The design of the table was inspired by a refined design in the lines, designed by a fluid and harmonious line that enhances the sense of lightness of the top suspended on a solid material base. It is a sculptural object that contrasts with the absolute simplicity of the shape, the oval one to the refinement of the materials and the construction technology. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Guest Light is a fixed dining table of oval shape, an expression of maximum conviality and important moments of sharing among diners. It is a table with a strong personality, great elegance and sinuosity in the forms that manages to combine the timeless charm of the handmade furniture to technological innovation thanks to the property of lighting the seats of diners. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The table furnishes the living room or kitchen with elegance, generating a meeting between shapes and materials to share everyday life. Thanks to a simple switch is able to highlight through the backlight of the floor, the location of diners. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design idea for this table was born in 2020 in our design studios, but the first prototype was realized only in September 2022. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The oval shaped table has been entirely handmade. The plan is made of Corian supported by a multilayer structure, is equipped with a lighting system that highlights the arrangement of diners creating an interesting play of lights on a surface normally lit only from above. The base is defined by a central foot that has the shape of a truncated cone with an elliptical base and is pulled out by bending several layers of wood with formwork. The surface finish is an essence veneer. The base is equipped with high resistance plastic feet), H mm 6, for floor support. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 2300 mm x 1200 mm x 750 mm TAGS: table, light, corian, integrated lighting, furniture design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The production phases were accompanied by an aesthetic and functional research which led to the choice of shapes and materials to be used. Various tests concerned above all the insertion of the recessed lighting fixtures in the plane for the backlighting of the workstations. The tests mainly concerned the positioning of the lighting fixtures and the need to make the ignition autonomous from the mains. CHALLENGE: The challenge of this design product was to insert the integrated lighting function of the top and above all to make autonomous the system through a current accumulator located inside the base of the table.
