| DESIGN NAME: Aros PRIMARY FUNCTION: Aroma Inhaler for Sport INSPIRATION: Aros started with the idea of developing aromatherapy products for people who like to exercise. Which we design based on research, whether in portability or usage in order to be fluently use the inhaler while exercising. We also intend to design the inhaler to be cool and sporty that gives a feeling of sport gadget in terms of appearance, including wearing and using gestures to make the user confident with their sporty personality. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Aros is a portable aroma inhaler designed to be conveniently use, the properties of essential oil to support users, while exercising. The product are divided into two main parts. The first part will be put under the shirt by the cartridge can put filter and drop essential oil on. It will cause cooling effect on the skin. The second part is attach outside of the shirt. In this part can be used by slide the inhaler cartridge out for inhalation. Filters and essential oil can be refill as well. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Each part of the inhaler cartridge is attached to each other by the force of the magnets that placed inside each part. To wear it, start with wearing the necklace part under the shirt. Adjust the strap as needed and bring the outer part to be attached to finish. For inhalation usage, use your dominant hand to slide out the inhaler cartridge to inhale. Both the inner and outer cartridges can be changed the filter and add essential oil as well. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2019 in Bangkok, Thailand. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The product have to meet health standard regulations, Material that safe to use with Medicated oil, avoid using glue in product assembly and the design to prevent leakage to the Neodymium magnets. The magnet placement of each part has been tested to give user the best experience when wearing with proper magnetic attractions, makes it not easily fall off when moving. And in picking to sniff, there is magnetic force help pushing to slides out the inhaler cartridge to hand. Although, the problem user facing are the hassles of carrying and using while exercising, often encounter stickiness or discomfort from herbal sport balm or oil, the smell that evaporates too quickly or alters during exercise which disturb other people and the insight of losing confident of personality. Inconclusion, the design aim to deliver the aromatic product that reflect user sport personality with the experience of scent privacy and portability to enhance better experience for user. CHALLENGE: In Thailand, there are many aromatic inhaler products. But for the fitness enthusiast market, it is considered as new. The challenge of this project is that it must pass the FDA's criteria. Because the appearance and method of use are quite different from the same type of product. Also it has to be study the sport gadget products in addition to inhaler products, then applied together. Because more than designing inhaler, is to design a good exercise experience through AROS to the user.
