DESIGN NAME: Muva
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional EV
INSPIRATION: Our philosophy of frugal multi-functional cars sets us apart in the shift towards electric vehicles worldwide. We prioritize local production to alleviate the economic strain of importing cars. Muva (Modular Utility Vehicle Architecture) embodies sustainability, reducing economic strain while enhancing transportation culture in Pakistan with its modular design. Inspired by the values of individuality, independence, and self-reliance, we champion progress and freedom in urban mobility.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Muva is a modular, zero-emission mobility solution that accommodates a driver and up to 1500 liters of cargo, can be customized to meet diverse urban needs, featuring a driver with 3 passengers in the lounge or forward-facing arrangement or an e-commerce delivery vehicle with 1500litres cargo space. It supports convertible features, such as the driver nap zone and paramedical applications. Its mobile cafe and city cleaner configuration add to its practical solutions for modern urban spaces.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Muva is an all-in-one electric rickshaw designed to simplify daily urban transportation. With its versatile configuration, the vehicle can be used for multiple purposes, eliminating the need for switching between different modes of transportation. This not only saves time and money but also eliminates the hassle of changing vehicles, making commuting more convenient and efficient.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: In 2019, the project was initiated in Lahore, where the congested road networks and outdated infrastructure provided an ideal testing ground. The exterior was finished within 8 months, and the interior was completed in the following 4 months, finalizing the product.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The initial design was created through traditional means such as pen or pencil sketching and 2D and 3D forms were developed with the help of computer-aided programs like Autocad, sketch up and 3d Studio Max. To test the materials and technologies, a virtual prototype was also developed. Eventually, the design was materialized adopting the principles of manufacturing 4.0, using modular architecture and the latest cutting-edge materials and technologies in the industry to achieve the final bodywork.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Powered by 72V, 7.5 kilowatts hour lithium ferric phosphate battery with about 150 range. The battery provides a clean and efficient source of power for the vehicle's electric motor, replacing the traditional combustion engine. Sturdy and lightweight frame, making it ideal for navigating narrow streets and congested urban areas. The battery can be recharged through a simple plug-in mechanism, and its range can be extended through battery swapping.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After conducting an extensive research process, including individual analysis and sketches using CAD software, the team delved into a thorough examination of relevant texts, articles, and expert interviews. Their objective was to ensure that the design was aesthetically pleasing while also being practical. By immersing themselves in a range of sources, the team was able to develop a comprehensive understanding of the requirements and challenges involved in designing their product. Through their efforts, they were able to create a design that was not only visually appealing but also highly functional and effective.
CHALLENGE: Reconciling the technical limitations of the chassis platform with the desired visual language of the vehicle was one challenge that the team overcame by striking a balance between form and function, ensuring MUVA meets all safety requirements while designing a frame that can withstand daily wear and tear. Translating the technical aspects of the vehicle into an attractive design that aligns with the overall theme was a hurdle that required an in-depth understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes and made the development of the MUVA a complex and demanding process.
