| DESIGN NAME: The Metamorphosis PRIMARY FUNCTION: Red Carpet Wear INSPIRATION: The designer was inspired to create bespoke fashion with mindfulness and affordability, conserving resources while creating a Wow factor every time for average women, giving them the chance to feel empowered. Since a single dress can transform into three outfits, this takes care of conserving the planet’s resources, the aesthetic factor of not repeating the same outfit as well as the pragmatic issue of not having to change into a completely new outfit every time, thus saving time. This collection is for every woman who escapes society’s cocoons metaphorically graduating from pupae to butterfly. Every woman is a universe into herself; within her soul she encapsulates a queen, a fairy, a Valkyrie and a warrior - unblemished by worldliness, unbowed by the world. This is a red carpet collection that transforms from ballgowns, to party dresses, power clothes that elevate clothing to high art, that changes and transforms both the wearer and the dress. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Metamorphosis collection is red carpet wear that transforms itself, being three dresses in one, thereby consuming only one-third of the carbon footprint. The collection is high street fashion for the regular woman and, is all inclusive. It is an Environment-first Design, prioritizing sustainability, recycling, waste management and the reuse of materials. This is affordable handmade couture that preserves the dying skills of local artisans of colour. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Over Drape Simple Cherry Unique Flare Dress can be transformed into a strapless tube dress with cape train sweep and then swept down to turn into a sexy and sassy tube dress. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Colour: Cherry Red Technique : Dart Manipulation method Style description: Rare flare drape dress turns to strapless sequin dress. Fabric: sequin fabric, Red plain cut pile fabric SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Fabric consumption: sequin fabric width 50” n length consumed 2 mts Red plain cut pile fabric: consumed 4 mts TAGS: Sustainable fashion, sustainable design, hand stitched, recycled fashion, eco-friendly fashion, transforming fashion, red carpet wear, evening gowns RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge faced was making sure every bit of the dress was perfect. For most dresses, the designer has to only have to worry about outside of the dress. Since the dresses from The Metamorphosis Collection transform, every stitch counted. Both the inside and the outside had to be perfect. All this had to be done keeping in mind the affordability and the hand stitched factor in mind.
