| DESIGN NAME: Sanam PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring INSPIRATION: The monument that inspired me the most for this project, was the Shah( Imam) mosque in Isfahan.It is a Persian mosque in the center of Iran .columns , arcs and all those paintings on the mosque’s dome as ornaments was the inspiration point for designing this ring. The turquoise stone was used as a symbol of the dome . Also the yellow color of gold resembles the golden desert and ancient Persian jewellery and the color and veins of turquoise resembles the paintings of the dome. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sanam is a hand-crafted fine jewellery designed for today’s most elegant and sophisticated tastes,while it revives the glory of Persian culture and it’s rich and epic history.It‘s made by employing traditional techniques in Iran . Sanam is a modern wearable sculpture based on Islamic Persian architecture . OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Influenced by the Iranian cultural pride and growing tendencies toward revisiting the heritage,I dedicated my offort to create products that fulfill both the dignity of a rich culture and the elegance of today.With such cultural background of object, the audience feels much more confident and tries to acquire deeper realisation of his/ her cultural achievements. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2021 in Tehran and finished in September 2021. A’ Design Award & Competition will be the premiere introduction of this product to the world. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Design begins with searching through a variety of Persian architecture sources to select capable patterns to be developed into a novel design. Through designing of the wearable monuments collection ,it became very clear that Isfahan has great architectural monuments to choose but in the public eye the Naghshe Jahan square and specially shah mosque is seen as the main landmark of the city. The making process of the ring with the use of authentic traditional 24K gold is a reminder of antiquity and nobility of the old Persian jewellery. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 16mm x Depth 16mm x Height 36mm 24 K gold TAGS: Ring, dome, turquoise, architecture RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In the first instance, The intent was to work with patterns in Islamic Persian architectures and designs, which all Iranians have grown up surrounded by , therefore it’s originally inherent in their knowledge of design. The intention was trying to design a jewellery collection called wearable monuments ; taking into consideration different social,cultural or environmental subjects. Although all of them are masterpieces from an architectural point of view, only a few of them were chosen as designing inspiration due to their architectural values; The emphasis was mostly put on a specific subjects. CHALLENGE: Through the designing process of the Wearable monuments collection, designer encontered two significant challenges. First,She tried to make pieces that not only to simplify delivering the main idea of the design, but also considering not complicating the making process and keeping the industrial aspect of the production simple. Commitment and loyalty to the main artworks that were the inspiration resources of the collection was another challenging aspect of the design process,as well as the transformation of urban scale structure to a jewellery function and desired scale. NAME: Larok PROFILE: Somayeh nouri is 42 years old. She is married and is a mother of two. Graduated from Shahid Beheshti University of Tehran in the field of business management. Due to her great interest in art she leaned into skills and works of art. Passed the course of wood inlay, jewelry manual design, 3D jewelry design using Rhino software and the course of making jewelry with wood and resin. She has been engaged with this profession for more than 10 years. At first as a hobby but in the past few years professionally and during all this time she tried to increase her skills. Since she was very interested in the architecture of historical buildings and Iranian civilization since she was a child, she decided to use Iranian motifs, especially the architecture of mosques and ancient facades around her. She thinks using wood next to valuable stones can create a unique feeling for the user. In her view, the return of each nation to its principle leads to the creation of more eye-catching and lasting works. |
