| DESIGN NAME: Eggpod PRIMARY FUNCTION: Egg packaging INSPIRATION: Every year, a huge amount of agricultural straw resources are produced all over the world. Burning or landfilling these agricultural straws not only wastes these resources that could be used, but also causes huge pollution to the environment. Based on this situation, we must think of a method or means to improve this situation. It might be a good idea to incorporate the design of egg packaging into this trend. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is an environmentally friendly egg packaging design using straw bran as raw material. The packaging material can achieve 100% natural soil degradation, does not produce any waste, and has the characteristics of lightness, shock resistance, breathability, and moisture absorption, and maximizes the protection of fragile agricultural products such as eggs. Used packaging can be used to store small items or grow plants. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: When using the package, first use scissors and other items to cut one side of the coil at the lower end, then pull the tag to tear off the suture on the package, open the package and take out the eggs hidden in it in sequence. Empty packaging can also be used to store small items, or to grow small plants. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: After pulverizing the agricultural straw, it is mixed with agar, glutinous rice glue and degradable plastic material in a certain proportion and stirred, and heated to a certain temperature in the container. After the mixture is poured out and cooled, the humidity is controlled at 60% and the material is cut. After that, it is hot-pressed on the machine, and the package prototype can be obtained by thoroughly air-drying the water. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The overall size of the product is about 55mm * 55mm * 324mm, and the size of each egg packing unit is about 55mm*55mm*68mm TAGS: Egg packaging, straw utilization, degradable, recycling, bionic form RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Based on the direction of solving the global waste of agricultural straw resources, this project proposes the purpose of rationally utilizing straw resources and integrating them into design practice. After on-the-spot research, online information collection and other means, we found that the current waste of agricultural straw resources is shocking: nearly 2.6 billion tons of straw resources are wasted in vain every year. If these resources can be effectively utilized, it will not only bring new economic income to the agricultural practitioners, but also the significance of promoting the sustainable development of people and the environment will be self-evident. CHALLENGE: A major difficulty of the design itself is how to explore and experiment with a new and challenging packaging synthetic material. In the process of continuous attempts, we have consulted countless classics and online information, conducted many experiments on the ratio of various materials, or continuously adjusted the heating temperature, as well as the unremitting exploration of the air-drying degree of the materials. In the end, the best solution for the material formulation was tested.
