PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Esophageal speech training

INSPIRATION:
According to the survey, laryngeal cancer patients can generally be cured by partial laryngectomy, but they cannot communicate verbally with others after surgery, and their quality of life is very poor. Nowadays, the electronic larynx that helps them vocalize has the problem of low, single, blurred sound, and long-term use is harmful to the body. Esophageal Speech is a very mature and effective method of vocalization. But it is not easy for them to master this mature esophageal voice, they do not know how to train properly and efficiently.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Revive is a wearable rehabilitation product that assists esophageal speech training. It helps people who have their vocal cords removed due to cancer restore vocalization through esophageal speech.Revive product and app are used together. Multiple sensors monitor and collect dynamic data such as sound in real-time. Smart algorithms process data and quantify feedback. App provides plans of different rehabilitation stages.This product can effectively help them master esophagus speech, get rid of the constraints of the electronic larynx, and communicate with people normally through the esophagus speech.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
First, wear the product on the neck and at the same time use a disposable medical gel patch to fit and cover the neck fistula. Then, open the APP to connect with the Revive product via Bluetooth and use it together. APP provides different stages of esophageal vocalization rehabilitation programs. Users look at the visual information on the APP for vocal training. At the same time, the product collects real-time dynamic data such as the user's voice, determines the voice status through intelligent algorithms, and provides quantitative visual feedback on the product and APP.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in Hunan University of Technology in May 2021 and will be officially completed in March 2022.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Material: ABS plastic, skin-friendly silicone rubber, stainless steel; Production process: injection molding, sheet metal stamping, CNC; Related technologies: real-time somatosensory recognition detection and transmission module, voice collection and processing module, rehabilitation training playback feedback module, voice data intelligent judgment processing module, etc.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:

CHALLENGE:
This is a very difficult innovative design. We must clearly understand the accurate and scientific esophageal language rehabilitation training methods, which requires us to consult a large number of literature related to rehabilitation medicine. At the same time, how to accurately and accurately capture the somatosensory dynamic data such as the user's voice and provide effective feedback of the rehabilitation plan through the intelligent algorithm is a major difficulty.
