DESIGN NAME: Digital Finance
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office
INSPIRATION: As the client is a digital financial business unit, the designer used orange and white as the main color to create a lively and energetic atmosphere. The colors make the space appear diversified without losing its professionalism.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The epidemic has caused considerable life changes, and workstyles have also changed. During the epidemic era, there were alternate work and work-from-home models. The designer responded to the changes with an open design and worked with the client to create multiple work styles. Through an open plan and flexible management of seats, the office is no longer limited to one seat for one employee to realize the concept of a shared office. In this plan, both work efficiency and space utilization can be significantly improved.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The circular logo at the entrance is a screen made by the designer based on the concept of heaven, earth, and coins. The material is copper, and the background is lacquered glass with dark green. Water and coins mean endless wealth in Feng Shui and are expected to help clients make money, in line with the prosperity of the financial industry. Behind the screen is the general staff work area, so the screen can serve as a partition but also has a theme.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in March 2022 in Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In response to the environmental demands of corporate transformation and zero carbon emissions, the project uses recyclable or reusable green building materials. At the same time, wallpaper, wood flooring, lacquered glass, melamine, and wood veneer are used widely. The entire flooring is made of laminate flooring. The designer also used paint to change the color of the white window frames. It is also worth mentioning that even the lacquered glass on the wall is a recyclable material. Finally, the skirting of the pillar is reinforced with metal hemming.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project is on the 7th floor with 654.5 square meters of space. It includes a general staff work area, two senior executive offices, a conference room, and a lounge, the rest is an open area. The L shaped facade divides the general staff working area from the lounge. The automatic door covers a hidden storage space, while the L shaped facade is equipped with a small gate to comply with the regulations of the FSC. The flexible design effectively utilizes the space so that the users will not feel oppressed when walking to the open area because the design is blocking the space.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The designer used contrast color and color flash modules to make the space appear diverse and various. The nearly 30 year old building is well lit and ventilated. The space planning is based on the original layout, and the partitions are reduced to a minimum. And the open plan is not blocked by doors or sliding doors, so people can move around freely. Furthermore, the flooring of the general staff work area and the lounge is made of brown and grayish laminate flooring to differentiate the functions of the space through color.
CHALLENGE: The 654.5 square meter space has good lighting conditions. However, the lighting on all sides allows more light in, and the natural light affects the presentation of colors. Therefore, the formulation and use of color is the most challenging part. In addition to natural light, the designer must consider the effect of color after shading. For this reason, the selection and application of color, whether in terms of color, brightness, or material, requires extra attention.
