| DESIGN NAME: Furui PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Mirror INSPIRATION: I was fascinated in the culture in my hometown - Taiwan. However, the former cultural elements when I saw in my childhood are disappearing, as a result, this is the inspiration and reason for me to design this project. By extracting the spirit behind the cultural image and developing it into a new appearance and design, we can discover the inner life spirit of the appearance, and use the elements in it in order to transform it into brand and cultural characteristics. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: FURUI is a multifunctional mirror which include the function of mirror, light, and table for the entrance of the house. The main characteristic is the cultural features in Taiwan called window grilles and tiles in special types in earlier period. By using the old materials and features and redesigning the shape of the product, it can give the design a new interpretation. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: the table in the product can be switched to different position and be locked in specific side, and the light can be easily controlled by touching any side of the product that is made by metal. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The FURUI started in July 2021 in Taiwan and finished in June 2022, and was exhibited in National Taichung University of Science and Technology in June 2022. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Material: metal, mirror, electrics, light, pottery. By the Vibration switch, people can easily turn on or off the light by touching the whole material in metal of the product. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of the design is that the whole texture in metal should be touched to open the light, so the function in the switch have to be checked and tested for a long time.
