PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Electrostatic Lint Roller

INSPIRATION:
When we need to clean up the light dust, pet hair or some small and lightweight trash from our sofa or car seat, we need use a lint roller, most of the traditional lint roller is one-time use, or reusable but very difficult to clean, so I want to find a sustainability solution that use the static electricity to clean the light dust or hair, it can be totally zero-waste and reuse without any battery or energy, generates static electricity entirely by its own motion.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
E brush is a totally zero-waste lint roller, instead of using a traditional roller, E brush uses an electrostatic roller chamber to capture hair and fine dust. Through its own motion, it can accumulate static electricity in the electrostatic roller chamber to capture the hair and fine dust and collect it into the dust collector. After cleaning, turn the switch to release static electricity, and the dust will automatically fall off from the dust collector, so that the dust can be cleaned conveniently and cleanly.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
1. Turn the knob to adjust a suitable handle position; 2. Roll the brush on the surface to be cleaned until the dust and hair are cleaned up; 3. Turn the electrostatic discharge switch on the side to discharge the internal static electricity, and take out the dust compartment, you can easily dump the dust into the trash can.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The porject started in Aug. 2021 in GuangDong, China, and finished in Feb. 2022.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
E brush consists of a handle and an electrostatic roller. The angle of the handle can be adjusted freely through the knob at the connection. The electrostatic roller contains an electrostatic generator and a leyden jar compartment. When the roller is used, the side wheel drives the electrostatic generator to generate static electricity and accumulate it. To the leyden jar compartment, the accumulated static electricity will become an effective force to capture hair and fine dust, it is a completely green and pollution-free tool.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The concern for the environment and the goal of reducing waste drove my design process. I visited many manufacturers and supermarkets that produce lint rollers and found that everyone was using one-time materials, which is undoubtedly a continuous waste, so I find a clean, green, sustainable solution that better serves people and the environment.

CHALLENGE:
How to use a green and clean method to capture and save static electricity is the most difficult part, I found a suitable solution through research on the principle of leyden jar.
