INSPIRATION: The Molo di San Marco was the point where boats docked to unload goods in Venice. The pier is also called Molo di Palazzo Ducale and Molo della Piazzetta.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Luca Carlevarijs was an Italian painter and engraver working mainly in Venice. He pioneered the genre of the cityscapes of Venice, a genre that was later widely followed by artists such as Canaletto and Francesco Guardi. This image is a crop from the original, (50.5 x 119.7 cm), colors altered. Oil on canvas, ca. 1709.
