PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Sneaker

INSPIRATION:
When the covid-19 broke out in 2020, the designer began to think, facing the current social environment, what changes can she make to help this society? How can she develop the concept of sustainability in the design? After a series of experiments and research, she found that 3D pen can melt the material and reshape it. She thought it was very interesting, and then made a series of designs and combined with the turbulent atmosphere of the current environment, added a variety of color elements to the design.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The sneaker is designed with the concept of functionality and sustainability. To make the feet easy to put on and take off, the established shoelace material is changed and replaced with the elastic rope. The elastic rope will be Elastic fatigue after wearing it for a long time. Which makes the shoes easier to wear. In addition, the designer used the material PLA (processed from corn starch) to cover the outsole and the surface of the shoe. This is a biodegradable material, which is not only decorative but also reduces environmental pollution. Moreover, when the wearer wants to recycle the shoe, these PLA and rubbers outsoles are recyclable. Analyzing and deconstructing the functionality of each part of the shoe and recombining it, taking comfort and functionality as the consideration, giving the shoe new value and meaning.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Use a 3D pen to inject PLA (corn starch powder) to draw on the shoes. The outsoles are made of recycled rubber materials, Responsible for the global environment.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project is the designer's graduate project, started in May 2021 in Italy and finished in October 2021 in Italy, and was exhibited in Polimoda in October 2021.

PROFILE:
The fonder is Wei-Jen Wang. She has 10 years of experience in Fashion Design. She like trying to do experiments of garments with different materials through lives, humanistic, social phenomena, and environment to develop creative ideas. Conceptualizing all the factors and to be re-understand by research and observations. She said it’s really fun for her to reconstruct and combine the elements to create a new functional and ideological product. She also thinks design is a medium for transmitting messages.
