| DESIGN NAME: Urban Portrait PRIMARY FUNCTION: Yoga Equipment INSPIRATION: In her early days of learning yoga, the founder of Yogasana often slipped on the mat due to excessive sweating, which caused distractions during practice. It wasn't until she used a yoga mat that combined PU and natural rubber, with a wet and slippery PU surface and thick natural rubber outsole, that she was able to focus on the combination of yoga poses and breathing. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Many travel plans have been halted due to the impact of Covid19. With this situation, the team designed unique yoga equipment by combining urban texture and color imagery, allowing users to follow the urban texture of different cities as the central axis of practice during yoga. In this way, the yoga equipment has a practical function and exists in the space as aesthetic decoration. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: In the beginning, yoga mats and equipment are usually in a single color with different materials in the market. It's difficult to reflect the personal choice of products that are both aesthetically pleasing and functional in design. As architects training in the architectural background, we present the aesthetics of urban textures on Yogasana's product, users can choose their favorite urban texture as an alignment line instead of selecting among monotonous colors with only a logo. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September 2020 in Taiwan and was finalized in November 2021 in Taiwan, and was launched online in December 2021. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Are the materials environmentally friendly? In terms of our products, we strictly selected from biodegradable and environmentally friendly materials, such as PU water-based leather, natural rubber, cork, and Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene. We wish to use the power of business to create a more socially and environmentally sustainable world. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Yoga mat size 183cm x 68cm x 5mm. Material made from polyurethane and natural rubber. Weight 3kg. Yoga wheel size：33cm x 33cm x 14cm, the thickness of the wheel is 15mm. Material outer made from polyurethane and natural rubber. Inner made from ABS. Weight 1.2kg. Cork yoga brick material is made from sustainable, fine-grain cork material. Size 7.5cm x 15cm x 22.5cm. TAGS: aesthetics, nonslip, sustainable, yogasana, urban RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Yoga Equipment to Solve Problems: Yogasana carefully designed yoga equipment to solve the problem from the user's aspect, selected the best material for products. For example, in our classical yoga mat, the leather surface has a high degree of anti-slip property even in dry conditions and does not slip even when sweating. Our mats possess excellent wear resistance, bending resistance, and shock absorption performance. Therefore, beginners and the elder won't be affected by the slippage of the hands and feet. CHALLENGE: Colour printout on the PU mat/ yoga wheel: In the market, the PU yoga mat is only shown in a single color with an alignment line. The color yoga mat is only shown in the fiber mat/ towel with a slippery surface. Thus, we worked with suppliers, tested many times, finally produced a colorfastness printout PU mat/yoga wheel. Also, we believe that yoga should make the body better; therefore, we voluntarily submitted the yoga mats to the SGS inspection agency for certification (PAHs,SCCP, heavy metal), and they all met the requirements set by the inspection agency.
