| DESIGN NAME: Serenity PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residence INSPIRATION: A design that transcendences the time and era, a combination of modern and vintage styles, offers a romantic yet luxurious ambience and highlights the residents’ unique taste. The color palette is rather mature, with the dark brown and wooden texture, along with the artistic coatings on the walls, the designer successfully establishes a serenity of calmness and coziness. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Knowing the residents, the designer put a world map on the sofa wall. With the wooden texture and the backlights highlighting the silhouette, the map becomes a center piece of the room. Moreover, the resident can put marks on places they've been to, making the map a more personal statement. Curves in the space soften the edges, establishing a fluidity that flows through the room. The round corners and handleless cabinets provide a safe environment for children to play freely. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The wood elements continue in the private space. However, instead of the dark, lighter colors are applied to build a more tranquil atmosphere. The colors and the textures match harmoniously. To cleanse the weariness of a busy day, the designer aims to bring out the peace in a minimal design. With natural lights, soft colors, and gentle textures, the room becomes a space for both mind and body to relax and recharge. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The common space depicts a gentle and relaxing living vibe with the dark wood and the soft edges. The cool gray and black balance the warmth in the brown and reach a sweet point, where everything is in harmony. Even the textures are well thought out: the matt flooring soothes the rather harsh lighting, convert it into a cozy dim halo. The display shelf in the dining area is a place for the travel-loving family to showcase their souvenirs from around the world. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This project is 113 square meters. TAGS: Interior Design, Residence, Vintage, Modern, Luxurious RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The space itself is a practice of the idea "less is more", and the design comes from the needs of the residents. The designer brings out the possibilities of a minimal space by playing with the textures, lines and colors along with natural lights. CHALLENGE: The lights are all LED lights, which is more efficient, and the big windows also allow natural lights to shine in the space, reducing the use of artificial lightings. Green building materials such as latex painting are applied to ensure the safety of the residents as well as keeping eco-friendly.
