WordPad

INSPIRATION:
Hypertonia or hypotonia due to developmental delays in children can lead to learning disabilities in children. During the actual visit to the special class, founding that they had problems with writing, such as the curved arcs of numbers or the right-angle turns encountered by Chinese character strokes, which could not be realized well, especially Chinese characters contain strokes such as tick and swipe. It is relatively difficult, so this product is designed to guide them to practice.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This product is used to assist children who have difficulty wielding a pen due to hand muscle incoordination. The square pen tablet can be superimposed with a transparent plate to create flat or grooved characters that change with the user's ability to move the pen. Next to the text and numbers are images to aid memory, as well as sound and light feedback after completion. The product contains five pens of different shapes, and different pens can be used according to the holding conditions.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Square board: The text on the board is completely flat, suitable for advanced practice. A deep groove guides the movement of the pen when the transparent plate covers the base. -PEN- Clamp-type: Clamp the pen between two fingers. Buckle-type: Some children are hard to hold the pen . Using an buckle will better help them. Ball-type: Grip the ball type to move. Rocker-type: Like grabbing a rocker or three-point pen grip. Ring-type: The ring assists the finger to stabilize the three-point pen grip.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in January 2021 and will be completed in Taoyuan, Taiwan in February 2022.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Material: This auxiliary pen-holding teaching aid uses food-grade silicone and ABS plastic, and the pen version uses ABS plastic. Silica gel is chemically safe, non-toxic and non-corrosive, acid and alkali resistant, high and low temperature resistant; ABS plastic has drop resistance, heat resistance, low temperature resistance, chemical resistance, and is safe and friendly to children, so it is the best choice for this product.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Pengo uses the superimposed transparent plate on the pen board to create grooved and flat non-groove characters to meet the needs of children of different levels, and also adds sound and light feedback to attract children's interest. The word board combines the image memory method and the meaning of Chinese pictographs, such as: 1 is a pencil 1, the Chinese word "sun" is the image of the sun, so that children can learn while writing.

CHALLENGE:
1. How to make special children from not holding a pen to practice holding a pen with three points. 2. Let them not only have written memory, but also include: listening feedback and visual feedback. 3. The shape of the pen is not only in line with the practical function of holding a pen for special children, but also has a beautiful shape. 4.Pengo thought about how to allow special children to use progressive boards, and decided to superimpose the grooves and planes of the text
