RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research was based on the observation and analysis the architecture of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, inspired the founders of GUNIA project, to create a tempered glass sculpture.
The aim of the research was the author's strategy in gaining new knowledge about Ukrainian architecture.
The designers used a visual research method, iconographic, to learn the history of architecture, a technological method, to better understand the physical and chemical features of tempered glass. Research tools include ethnographic travels, work with museums and archives, and recovery techniques.
To create the sculpture, the founders of the brand conducted many experiments to find a balance between their ideas and the real possibilities of artisanal glass.
As a result of this project, sculpture of Atlant is suitable for use in design and architectural solutions.
GUNIA Project is now at the forefront of cultural diplomacy. Their items became a powerful message to spread the idea of the depth of cultural development of Ukraine.
CHALLENGE: The most difficult thing was to understand all the nuances of working with glass, its flexibility and what glass processing technology to choose. Our first designs were not embodied precisely because of the subtleties of working with this material. We spent a lot of time experimenting with and trying out the design.
