RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The conservation of endangered animals is strongly concerned by government organizations around the world. The sea turtle in Nui Chua national park, Ninh Thuan, Vietnam is facing the problem of illegal poaching and the number of individuals is decreasing every year. Dealing with that problem, there are many groups of scientists, volunteers, and local people that coordinate with the local authority to take decisive actions to protect this area.
This project, therefore, aims to emphasize the importance of sea turtles how impact the ecosystem and environment in Nui Chua national park, Ninh Thuan, Vietnam. In addition, guiding people propagate and educate in the protection of the natural environment in general and the protection of sea turtles in particular. Besides that, the scientist has conditions to study and research about this sea endangered animal.
Considering the project's operational criteria, this project adapted proper programs to not only the research place of scientists but also to make other users experience and learn the important role of sea turtles.
CHALLENGE: The selected project site is located on a mountainside in the middle and rests on large stones in a corner of Nui Chua National Park, Vietnam, and is placed in a giant continuous rock cluster that creates a special landscape. From a high 13m, people can observe almost the entire beach. Besides that, in the front of the house is a large stone slab sloping gently 1 stone plane 7m from the ground as the main living floor, on both sides. There are large stones arranged in layers to protect the northeast wind from the sea that can cause damage to the structure during the storm period. From there, the idea of a house with stone walls that is both sustainable and suitable for the landscape is selected.
In the context of the project's location on the coast. So there are some issues such as traffic, electricity and water system are quite limited. Based on the project location being the coast and the climate condition is tropical monsoon. The architects took advantage of natural elements such as wind and sun to improve efficiency in energy conversion and ventilation. For the water source, the works using groundwater flowing down from the mountain are exploited through open-faced wells, taking advantage of groundwater near streams, which is natural freshwater. It is then pumped to a storage tank to be used gradually. Personal domestic wastewater is drained to a 3-compartment septic tank before being discharged into the environment.
