| DESIGN NAME: Conf Space PRIMARY FUNCTION: Evacuation Supplies INSPIRATION: Environmental persecution caused by many natural disasters or human factors has a major impact on our lives. Government will provide corresponding evacuation methods to effectively resettle the affected residents and distribute materials. This paper focus on these issues and we design products that can effectively solve the issues. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This product is a simple design with nickel titanium elastic frame as the main structure and private compartments in the refuge space. Victims can quickly assemble this product by themselves to reduce the human burden in the resettlement process, and effectively provide high-quality rest space for the affected households. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: After the disaster, the government distributes these products and set up the compartment area for affected families. The construction method is quite simple, only velcro tapes and zipper is used. The construction can be effectively completed without additional human resources. Moreover, the storage area of this product is quite small and lightweight. The products can be easily carried to reduce the time in transportation. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2020 in Taiwan , will be completed in February 2021, and will be exhibited in March. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Social Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The material is made of nickel-titanium metal strips. The metal mold conform the specification standard for mass production. After several tests to ensure the stability of metal memory, operation and folding resistance, it is sent to the sewing manufacturer for post-processing fabric selection. Polyester fiber waterproof material can reduce the government's subsequent recycling of products and facilitate washing.The government is responsible for centralized management. The purpose of in-depth discussion on disaster issues is to effectively solve the persecution of disasters for us, and the subsequent resettlement can operate more systematically. Through the comprehensive research, design features are added to the products and various considerations will be taken to provide public services most efficiently. We can pay more attention to the privacy respect for users. CHALLENGE: Nickel-titanium metal is a kind of material with memory property, which is widely used in medical appliances, camping supplies, photographic reflectors, and automotive supplies. The materials are sold in bundles. Mass production of this material can effectively cost down. The melting point is high and welding cannot be completed at the beginning of the operation. It was found that using iron buttons can avoid high-temperature welding, rusting, welding points breakage and other problems.
