| DESIGN NAME: Bachelorette in Wonderland PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: The residence of a single woman, starts from unlocking the bondage of layout, welcoming the sunshine and open feeling, giving the life comfortable of being alone, also able to have party with friends at any time; combined with the vision of bright beautiful color, rich material performance, detailed and meticulous soft decoration, it is just like walking into the fairy tale of "Alice in Wonderland", with delicate and fantasy adventure. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A residence for a single woman, with originally fragmentary layout, was integrated in the space; with the open kitchen, as the core, to meet the owner’s lifestyle of loving cooking and partying, which more effectively improve the moving line efficiency; on the other hand, the open kitchen also expands the scope of the public area and lighting, with the ground stretched window blind to extend the vision scale of the window. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Through the simplified moving line and layout, it welcomes abundant natural lights, and satisfies the female owner’s fond of cooking, and the open space that drinks with friends at party; the sliding door design could switch the open and privacy of the private area at any time. Since the transformation of life situation, the bar accommodates multi-functions such as dining, cooking preparation, leisure, and social interaction. In the process of preparing food, it can also present the visual focus effect like the stage. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2020 and finished in October 2020 in Taipei. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The living room retains the original ceiling height, and the storage area is planned behind the sofa, to create a height of space and a tidy feeling. The bedroom metope of side oblique cut is combined with the restore mirror to the ground, to solve the acute angle that looks directly after entering the door, and also open the field of vision of the sofa area. The sliding door design in the bedroom area is in line with privacy considerations, and the expanded entrance frame makes it easier to access and use. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This is a 46-square-meters space. With the quiet and warm earth color system as the base, the fusion of retro, industrial, and elegant characteristics, it sets off the bright sunshine, as well as herringbone spelling, retro brick and other rich and diversified different materials. The exposed pipeline ceiling and retro mirror, with mottled rough texture, recall the temperature and traces of the old days. TAGS: Interior, Design, House, Residence RESEARCH ABSTRACT: According to the living habit of resident, one room was deleted and an open kitchen was added to expand the overall lighting of public area and simplify the moving line. To amplify the dimensional feeling, the living room ceiling retained the original height, with the inclined metope design, to avoid the abrupt unwell experience from the indoor acute angle, and also outspread the visual field of sofa area outward. In the bedroom area, the door frame was enlarged to increase the shared circulation of light when the door is opened, while making the access easier. Symmetrical bed head design and sleeping area, effectively resolved the deformed area produced by beams and columns, and increased the storage area. CHALLENGE: There were the water leakage and window frame seepage problems in the old residence of nearly 20 years, and affected by the stone washing material of the building appearance, it is difficult to find the root cause; therefore, this project spent more effort and cost in the early construction period, in the catch of leakage and waterproof engineering renovation, and also redesigned and elevated the window frame position, to completely solve the residential physical problems.
