PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Residential House

INSPIRATION:
For the family members of single-family house are the adults, how to divide the boundary of party, communication, and privacy, and present the personal style and function of preference, is the important key of design. The designer clarifies the space context, and through the reconstruction of order, makes the sunshine to be the common vocabulary, with bright color to represent the personality of multiple residents, and accommodate the career and life expectations of all ages.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
As the house owners are 4 adults, each floor is allocated to independent bedroom area, through the setting of dressing room and living area, to solve the fragmented pattern in space, and enhance the use efficiency of air conditioning; infused with the unique styles as French romance, retro vacation, color collocation, and Modern American style, to emphasize the personality and taste of resident. The public area is centered on the gathering of the whole family.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
For the private areas, through the adjustment of layout, it expands the multivariate functions such as changing clothes, storage, daily life, and rest, increasing the comfortable feeling of the space, also satisfying the privacy and life function that every resident needs. The living room is not only a place for family gatherings, but the flexibility of multi-function allows the dining area to become part of the corridor, and when the space is independent, it can also combine the working style of studio and art classes.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in October 2020 and finished in February 2021 in Taoyuan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
The existing building has the advantage of bilateral bright daylighting, but the fragmentary and irregular layout is difficult to use; therefore, the designer moves the kitchen outward, giving the privacy when cooking, while enlarging and squaring the public space, and uses the elastic sliding door, to connect the bedrooms, dining room, and corridors of transition region, with the concept of combination of blocks, and make the use of space more flexible.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
This is a 290-square-meters house with four rooms and two living rooms. The public area combines the western symmetrical aesthetics, integrates the cultural stone niche and louver arch cabinet. According to the reference of different residents, the different theme colors of purple, bright orange, light yellow, and vintage green, match to the line board, iron pieces, rattan material and soft decorations, leading the unique space character.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Through moving the kitchen out, it squares the irregular layout of public domain, and brings privacy for cooking area; on the other hand, by the flexibility of movable sliding door, it could connect the transition area that holds the function of daily life, dining-room, and corridor concurrently, let the use of space more flexible, and increase the use such as being the art classroom or for lectures. The independent bedroom area is divided into one bedroom on each floor, to ensure sufficient privacy and comfort.

CHALLENGE:
Every resident has the imagination and expectation for the future life. The challenge is how to express the preferences and habits of different users through the function and style construction, and integrate the common elements and vocabulary into the common living area, to construct a harmonious and personal home space.
