DESIGN NAME: Rainwater
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Potted Plant
INSPIRATION: Indoor plants cannot be watered by natural rain, and people usually bring rain indoors through wet umbrellas, but let the rain run away naturally, which is undoubtedly a waste of resources. We hope to solve the problem of rainwater utilization and bring natural love to indoor potting through a clever design.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Rainwater is a rainwater collection potted plant made of marine recycled plastic materials. By studying the relationship between plants, umbrellas and user behavior, we combine the storage of umbrellas with potted devices, and use unconscious design to guide users to place umbrellas according to users' usage habits, Thus, it skillfully solves the utilization of rainwater resources and brings natural love to indoor potting.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Rainwater adopts the way of assembly of accessories, so that users can experience the fun of product assembly, and it is convenient to save unnecessary packaging materials to the greatest extent. Users can freely plant their favorite plants on Rainwater and place them in the door or other indoor space convenient for storing umbrellas. After rain, people bring wet umbrellas indoors. The ingenious unconscious design on Rainwater can guide people to insert umbrellas, and the infiltrated rainwater flows into Rainwater to promote the growth of plants, so as to achieve the original intention of Rainwater design.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was started in Jiangmen in April 2021 and completed in Jiangmen in October 2021.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Marine plastics are collected and transported to factories where they are converted into plastic particles. Then, the plastic particles are pressed into Rainwater's mold through the injection mold. The potting parts are then mechanically removed, rotated and wrapped. Finally, it is assembled and formed by combining a small number of other material parts.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We pay attention that indoor plants cannot be watered by natural rain, but people usually bring rain indoors through wet umbrellas, but let the rain run away naturally. So we studied that there was a scattered phenomenon when people placed umbrellas, and the used umbrellas after the rain would cause rainwater to penetrate into the floor. At the same time, the data show that people like indoor planting more and more. we took the relationship between people, umbrellas and plants as a design breakthrough, and combined some unconscious behaviors of people in the process of placing umbrellas with the design of potted plants to design Rainwater.
CHALLENGE: In the research and design process of Rainwater, it is challenging to observe and study human behavior for a long time in rainy days. At the same time, due to the lack of practical experience in product production, rainwater is studying product materials. If you encounter difficulties in material and processing technology, you need to often go to the factory to communicate and learn with relevant employees.
