DESIGN NAME: Worongary
PRIMARY FUNCTION: House
INSPIRATION: The core design philosophy was to refine fundamental design principles as a careful dance between functionality and art. The design has gone through site constraints from responding to planning controls to sloping contour. The house steps down the site along the Outdoor Terrace, Pool area and landscaping. The resolution creates an exciting piece of art but also suits the growing family.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This new home project in the city Gold Coast, Queensland is a modern home that pairs functionality with art. The curvaceous designs softens the abobe's scale while creating a captivating feature. Multiple zones for parents, teenagers, and toddlers were positioned that allows everyone to stay connected, or maintain personal space when desired. The home design treats the outdoors as important as the indoors, where the kitchen is a centralised hub that flows into the outdoor terrace and pool area.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design responds to the local climate, which is seemingly perpetually sunny in Queensland. Double height void over the covered terrace serves as a buffer zone for cool air into the house. South-facing skylights and cross-level light wells to bring in natural light to the interior. Motorised vental blinds are used to shade off excessive sun and heat yet allowing cool breezes entering the home.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The builder client is inclined to use steel framing, which is extremely strong and lightweight leading to substantial cost saving for the scale of a home like this.
The use of durable and low-maintenance material/construction systems such as pre-finished cladding material and off-form concrete were used to ensure longevity and durability of this architectural home.
