DESIGN NAME:
Flowing Painting

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Residence

INSPIRATION:
This project is located in the mountain areas of Xindian; due to the high topography, the clouds and mist surround the paths and created beautiful scenery inhabited by people. To give users an ultimate experience in living, the designer responded to the ever-changing mountain sceneries and drew inspiration from the diffuse clouds and mist to shape the overall into a flowing painting. The interior is decorated with artistic paints to render the aesthetic of ink-splashing landscape, echoing both inside and outside to create a worldly wonderland standing in the mountains starting from wildlife and ending in human nature.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The five-story villa is built on the hills; it is a humanistic resort with a transparent and peaceful design that coexists with nature. Under the epidemic where freedom and social interactions are deeply affected, the designer broke the dullness of standard residences and created more possibilities for interior design and operational planning. In addition to using stone, wood, and earth tones as the media, simple and organic designs are applied through smooth linear crafting and an open-end method; the elements have depicted an artistic landscape with a rustic theme.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
With the mysteries of the current post-epidemic era, people must face the loneliness and anxiety generated by social alienation. This project is dedicated to creating a getaway of unrestrained freedom while maximizing daily diversified needs to provide aspirations and joy of living. The internal reorganization of the floor plan is based on an open and smooth movement plan and a transparent design aesthetic, creating an extension effect that integrates internal and external scenery and gives people a breathing space. The spacing effect of this five-story building is more than enough, allowing storage spaces to be satisfied.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in January 2020 and finished in June 2020 in New Taipei City, Taiwan.

Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Echoing the ever-changing landscape outside, the flexible and graceful drifting sceneries have turned into a house painting. Inside, complex and ornate decorative surfaces are replaced with neutral elements in simple colors and raw textures; they interpreted the nature of rigidity and softness, showing the clients high-end beauty and well-founded sense. As for the private area, the warm and comfortable tone continues the wooden tonal, while the wallpapers, fabrics, and moldings in soft colors are incorporated to create a simple and relaxed sense of living.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The initial public area is equipped with an abruptness brought by the towering columns; therefore, the designer added a false column to clarify the axis of the space, giving the entrance, living room, dining room, and kitchen a clear definition of the area along with a smooth traffic flow. The overall is beautified visually while achieving practical and progressive functionality. The secondary bedroom on the second floor has been reoriented from the bathroom to the sleeping area, which creates a gradual flow along with the dressing room and bathroom for daily living and use.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
A space is to create connections between people and the environment. The surroundings of woods and clouds far away from the urban city give the project inspiration to touch people souls. From the wilderness to the residence, all elements correspond to create a design that combines primitive and civilization. The aesthetic of the furniture and cabinets are reflected in the sophisticated design. Furthermore, the perfect storage and dressing room configurations have created the ideal living environment for the clients.

CHALLENGE:
The project was designed and renovated for nearly a year. The construction period encountered the winter season, and the base was located in the mountains; therefore, the high concentration of fog and humidity was a significant challenge. The designer and construction team were fortunate to find a proper solution with their professionalism and good teamwork. Advance technology is applied to regulate the temperature and humidity inside the house, allowing users to live in an excellent quality environment and building materials all year round.
