| DESIGN NAME: The Moonbow PRIMARY FUNCTION: Gift Box INSPIRATION: Both glass and mirror have strong aesthetic potential. This work integrates the matching of various materials, unique geometric structure, creative artistic design and practical space division into the gift box to reproduce the beautiful moon rainbow. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is not only a Chinese moon cake gift box, but also a wonderful art installation. The unique structure design provides more display space. Geometric arrangements of colorful acrylic plastic reflect gorgeous patterns of light. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Light interacts with glass and mirrors to produce strong interaction. Different presentation effects depend on the different positions of viewer, light and mirrors. After enjoying the art installation, There are drawers at the bottom of the gift box to hold 8 moon cakes of different flavors. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Paste a layer of color transparent sticker on acrylic resin to make a colorful effect. The texture of water wave is obtained by die casting acrylic plastic at high temperature. 20 different parts are connected through snap teeth, so the whole art installation does not need to use a drop of glue. The moon in the middle uses 3D printing and puts a small LED light in the center. The mirror on the back is made of 1 mm thick polycarbonate. In addition to the hot stamping process used in the text part, the whole gift box is not printed with ink.The cost of the whole gift box is only 16 dollors. Only the change of material and structure is too conservative, the packaging design should boldly integrate pop art, culture and fashion elements. The main research direction of this work is to miniaturize the art installation and implant it into a gift box. Art installation can improve the aesthetic level of products and increase the expression form of design. Different art installations can provide space for business owners to express their commodity ideas, business beliefs, user care or other non product contents, so as to increase the functionality of packaging. CHALLENGE: This work is designed for commercial use, so the final product needs to meet the requirements of mass production, suitable for express transportation, no harm to children and pregnant women, artistic expression and reasonable cost control. Based on the above requirements, the main difficulty is to overcome the obstacles of product structure design and material selection.
