| DESIGN NAME: A Flower Roots In My Heart PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewelry/Art Object INSPIRATION: Under the heavy pressure of fast-paced life and fierce competition, people ignore small happiness in life. We are stressed, depressed and lost. This problem has become more apparent during the pandemic. Based on my research in psychology and philosophy, I believe that happiness is hidden in our daily lives, so I started to capture all kinds of happy moments, and try to express true happiness. This project is expected to awaken people to embrace the chaos, the energy, the feeling of being alive. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In this brutal world, people often lost themselves and their perception and experience of happiness are becoming less, so I hope to communicate with viewers about meaning of life and happiness through my work for resonance. In my work, I hope to embrace the chaos, the energy, the feeling of being alive by capture those special happy moments, and to share my positive attitude with people by express the light in my heart. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: These are mostly art objects, people can take them with them or place it in their house. This project also contains one double-duty object, which can also be worn as a brooch, I made a special brooch back for it. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: 925silver, zirconia all handmade by YOLANDA (including wax-carving, stone-setting, polishing) except casting, due to the security reason SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 36*36*57mm 68*35*37mm 68*82*89mm 43*38*57mm 101*96*89mm 68*38*85mm TAGS: art objects, contemporary jewelry, happiness, silver, objects, jewelry, handmade, handmade objects RESEARCH ABSTRACT: During this project, we experienced covid-19 pandemic. My peers and I felt at a loss. Thus, I tried to get help from wise men in the past and at the present. I have read masterpieces of psychology and philosophy, and I have also talked to my therapist. After reading Bertrand Russell’s book and the works of Yinhe Li, a famous Chinese sociologist, I realized that life is meaningless, but we can endow our life with meaning. In other words, we ought to gain happiness of the moment. CHALLENGE: As a formal architecture student, the handcraft technique is the most difficult part. I have to learn all kinds of techniques and ask professional people that how to realize my design. Some ideas haven't been tried yet, so I need to do a lot of experimenting to get closer to my design. NAME: ZHENGYOLANDA PROFILE: The title of my project is a flower roots in my heart, it is a poetic metaphor often used to express a happy mood. People can know from this metaphor that my project is about happiness. Under the heavy pressure of fast-paced life and fierce competition, people ignore small happiness in life. We are stressed, depressed and lost. This problem has become more apparent during the Covid-19 pandemic. Based on my research in psychology and philosophy, I believe that happiness is hidden in small things in our daily lives, so I started to capture all kinds of happy moments, and try to express true happiness.
