DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Mountain River

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Residential

INSPIRATION:
The residence has the geographic advantage of mountain and river surroundings; considering the space could have a sunrise view, the designer specially selected the mountain views as the center. Each area is applied with a frame structure consciously with complex and still, decorations excluded. Also, with the client characteristics, personalities, living habits, interests, and hobbies, a meditation room with a mountain view is set up along with linear and axial symmetry designs. The main body is applied with grey color tones with warm wooden tones setting off.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The residence is equipped with a beautiful mountain scene and the advantage of an expansive terrace. Yet, the original face did not allow users in or out from the front; therefore, the designer opened it up and installed a foldable door to maintain transparency between indoors and outdoors. A meditation room is also designed for the owner. Its lattice wall is made with solid wood, and the warm color-toned wood grains and its simple, elegant colors echo with the greenery outdoor that could give comfort to both body and soul.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The client favorite space, the bathroom, applied the design with natural marbles, the Golden Mountains, to create a wide bathtub. The walls of the showering area are pasted with wooden-grained tiles with scattered sword shapes, and the natural lightings drawn into the shower have shown different senses of lusters. The ceiling and the storage boards are made with natural cypress of Taiwan. The steam will cause a natural scent through the cypress; it creates a vacation sense, too. Two water-heaters are specially installed to provide a massive amount of hot water to avoid a long waiting time.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project finished in January 2021 in Rimini Taipei City, Taiwan.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
In the neutral color-toned design, the designer assigned most space into the public area to create the unity of the mountain scenery during space planning. The terrace and the living room walls are opened to expand towards the outdoor area, creating a harmonic harmony of transparency. Meanwhile, the warmth of the corrosion clay plates of the fireplace in the living room developed towards the open-ended kitchen bar counter.

CHALLENGE:
It was a tough challenge to keep the mountain sceneries connected and maintain a neat space planning within a vast public area. The walls between the living room and the terrace were planned to be opened for connection at the beginning. While areas are united, it has also given the space a transparent sense through space expansion. The fireplace, the open-ended kitchen, and the elegant yet straightforward soft decorations are separated. The balance between the mountain sceneries and the interior space was just as perfect as the owner required.
